The 2022 San Diego Comic-Con was a huge success, with more than 130,000 fans of comic book culture in attendance. During this four-day event, attendees had unforgettable experiences sitting in on panel events, cosplaying, meeting with other comic fans, and visiting the booths of their favorite brands. Lucky for us, we had the opportunity to work behind the scenes with several brands, helping to plan their experiential marketing campaigns and create their Comic-Con booths.

When was San Diego Comic-Con?
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con took place from July 21-24, 2022, at the San Diego Convention Center. Fans attended multiple events and activities every day from 7 a.m. to midnight.
How many years has Marketing Genome attended the San Diego Comic-Con?
This year marked Marketing Genome’s 12th time participating in San Diego Comic-Con. We were thrilled to have a crew of 12 make the trip to San Diego to help with project management. These individuals took care of the preparation, setup, and tear-down of our clients’ booths.
What did Marketing Genome do leading up to San Diego Comic-Con?
Marketing Genome helped design unique, eye-catching booths to draw fans in as they explored the venue between events and activities.
How many booths did Marketing Genome create for the event this year?
In 2022, there were over 550 exhibitors. Marketing Genome made 11 booths for clients, which included Konami, Dragon Ball Z, Tamagotchi, and Crunchyroll. Our team stays up-to-date with the latest technology and fabrication techniques to help our clients’ booths look the best every year.
Were there any particular challenges Marketing Genome faced this year?
Every year comes with its own set of challenges. One that stands out from this year was the delivery of an integral part of the Dragon Ball Z booth, Ape Vegeta. This piece was 6,000 lbs and took three trucks to transport. During the transportation, one of the trucks broke down, creating a time constraint. Despite the setback, our team pushed through with a fast and efficient setup, ensuring the show went on.
